FAQ - Frequently asked questions motorcycle and scooter rental

The general terms and conditions are different in each company. For this reason it is always good to ask for exact information! In order to prevent our clients from unnecessary phone calls or emails, we have prepared the answers to the frequently asked questions - specifically custom-tailored to La Palma 24 rent a car.

Is it possible to get the motorcycle or scooter directly at the airport Santa Cruz de La Palma (SPC) after my arrival?

The handover takes place at our location in Los Llanos.

For bikers who want to be completely flexible during their holiday, the motorcycle can be handed over, if possible due to the limited number of employees, to the customer at the airport.

Alternatively, and depending on availability, La Palma 24 will provide a rental car at the airport to get to the La Palma 24 office.

If a shuttle service is not possible during the high season, the staff will be happy to organise a transfer for you with an external company.

Is it possible to return the motorcycle or scooter at the airport after my vacation?

The motorcycle or scooter return is at our location in Los Llanos. By prior request and if possible due to the limited number of employees, the motorcycle or scooter can be dropped off at the airport.

Which insurance options are available?

The rental price includes an all-inclusive liability insurance cover against personal injury, property damage and financial loss. The insurance sum is 50 million Euros for third-party damage and for personal damage.

A fully comprehensive insurance can not be concluded for the reason that the local insurers do not offer this for rental motorcycles or scooter.

What is included in the rental?

Included are the personal liability insurance and the commitment fee.

What is not included in the rental?

Not included in the rental are:

- fuel costs
- penalties
- all damages, even in the case of slight negligence with regard to loss (including the mislaying or confiscation of the motorcycle/scooter or parts of it)
- Comprehensive insurance (can not be concluded in the Canary Islands for the reason that the local insurers do not offer this for rental motorcycles or scooter)
- damage as a consequence of improper treatment and damage that constitutes a reduction in value or parts of it) which goes beyond normal motorcycle or scooter use during the rental period (for example on tyres)
- recovery and return costs
- technical expert costs
- technical and commercial depreciation
- loss of rental income during the repair period, or, in case of outright loss, during the period until replacement
- damage or loss of accessories as helmets inclusive helmet shield, jackets, gloves
- loss of vehicle registration papers and/ or loss of vehicle keys

How full is the tank when I get the motorcycle or scooter?

La Palma 24 has for rental motorcycle or scooter the full – full service. You get the motorcycle or scooter with a full tank and you return it with a full tank.

Can I leave La Palma by motorcycle or scooter and go to another Island by ferry?

Yes. But you’ll need the confirmation from our La Palma 24 office. Please note: If there are any problems, an accident or a breakdown on Tenerife, Gran Canaria or another Canary Island, our La Palma 24 service support can not help you there. In addition, the renter must pay all costs of the motorcycles or scooter transfer back to La Palma.

Is it possible to register a second driver?

Yes maximum one for an additional fee of 5, - Euro per day.

How long is one day of rental?

From the moment you received the motorcycle or scooter it is 24 hours. If the return is delayed a new rental day can be charged.

At what age can I rent a motorcycle or scooter?

The minimum age for renting a scooter is 16 years, for a motorcycle 18 years. Depending on the vehicle model, there are different rental regulations regarding driving practice etc.

When do I have to pay the motorcycle or scooter?

If the booking is made more than 30 days prior to arrival the amount from 50% of the total amount must be paid within 3 working days after reservation confirmation by La Palma 24 on our business account. Otherwise the reservation will be cancelled by La Palma 24. The other 50% must be paid 14 days before arrival on our business account.

If booking is made less than 30 days prior to arrival, the total amount of the booking must be paid within 3 working days after reservation confirmation by La Palma 24 on our business account. Otherwise the reservation will be cancelled by La Palma 24.

What happens if I cancel my motorcycle or scooter reservation?

Cancellation of bookings more than 30 days before arrival will not be charged with any fees.

from 14 days to 8 days before departure...................... 50%
7 days to 1 day prior to departure................................ 80%

of the total price will be due.

What do I have to do in case of an accident?

First of all: Don't Panic! Call immediately La Palma 24. We speak English and make us on the way to you as well as we inform the police if necessary. Our emergency telephone: 0034-637 55 97 62. We prepare on spot together with the police in Spanish the accident report. In the case of an accident with personal injury call the ambulance with 112 or call 0034-637 55 97 62 and ask for "English".
